Clear frequencies for Japanese rescue effort

Dear all Malaysian Ham Members,

In the view of the recent Japanese earthquake and tsunami, we would like to
request our ham members to observe the following request, to clear the
frequencies for Japanese rescue effort.

The following was received from Mr. Dave Raycroft, VA3RJ of I.C.P.O.

Suka Duka Komuniti Wilayah V17

Salam hormat semua,

Sebelum kami memulakan coretan, kita sama-sama sedekahkan AL-FATIHAH kepada rakan kita iaitu 9W2NHE atau panggilan mesra SHAM. Bagi rakan-rakan yang pernah melawat aprs.fi, sudah tentu kita akan perasan satu digipeater di Taman Desa, Jln Kelang Lama di tag atas callsign 9W2NHE-3.

Untuk makluman semua, beliau telah ke rahmatullah pada 16 Oktober 2010 baru-baru ini kerana terlibat dalam kemalangan jalanraya. Ini cukup memeranjatkan kami yang menerima mesej tersebut dari rakan kita iaitu 9W2BDE. Pada masa yang sama juga waktu itu, kami sedang sibuk dengan aktiviti JOTA SEDUNIA yang sedang berlangsung. Pada hari yang sama juga kami menerima maklumat Ayahanda kepada saudara 9W2TZ telah ke rahmatullah. Takziah buat beliau. Pemergian beliau adalah satu kehilangan besar kerana sikap beliau yang disenangi oleh rakan-rakan. Kerana beliau juga, maka berdirilah APRS digipeater di tengah kawasan kuala lumpur. Semoga roh mereka ini ditempatkan di kalangan orang yang soleh.

Lanjutan dari aktiviti JOTA Sedunia ke 53 yang berlangsung, kali ini lokasi yang dipilih adalah di puncak kawasan GENTING HIGHLANDS. Lebih kurang 45 contact station diperolehi dan signal yang diterima dari rakan-rakan sebelah benua Amerika juga kuat. Station dikendalikan oleh Station Master iaitu saudara Rizal 9M2RDX yang kental dan tidak putus-putus cuba melakukan contact walaupun dalam keadaan propogasi yang kurang memuaskan. Apa yang menarik sepanjang acara ini berlangsung adalah terdapat 6 jenis antena yang dinaikkan pada hari tersebut. Antaranya adalah Homebrew Delta loop, broadband dipole, Buddipole, homebrew dipole, Monoband Yagi dan long wire. Dengan suhu lebih kurang 19'celcius menjadikan acara ini lebih rancak disamping hidangan makanan dari chef danau kota yang panas serta menyelerakan.

Satu perkara yang menarik perhatian kami di situ adalah kualiti kebersihan tandas rumah kongsi pekerja kawasan itu yang boleh kami berikan skor A. Apapun kepuasan jelas terpancar dari setiap peserta yang mengikuti acara ini sehingga turunnya bendera Malaysia pada keesokan harinya.

Sebelum acara ini, kami juga tidak pernah lepas dari mengikuti pertandingan FOX HUNT yang dianjurkan oleh rakan-rakan Melaka pada 26 Sept 2010 yang lalu. Kali ini acara dilaksanakan bermula dari Menara Keris sehinggalah sekitar 3km termasuk A-Famosa, Jonker Street. Hanya dua rakan sahaja yang dapat turut serta iaitu 9M2PRO dan 9W2WF. Yang lain terpaksa mengalah dengan kekangan dari tugas dan hal keluarga yang lebih penting jatuh pada hari selepas kemuncak Hari Raya. Bezanya kali ini juga amatlah mencabar para peserta kerana kali pertama mode AM digunakan. Dalam keadaan sesak dikelilingi oleh pelancong asing, mata mereka terpaku apabila kami berlepas sambil memegang antena mencari musang yang disembunyikan. Tidak terkecuali mereka yang bertanya bagaimana permainan di jalankan. Dalam keadaan panas, signal AM juga mempunyai ciri-ciri pantulan yang berbeza berbanding mode FM sebelum ini. Adalah menjadi adat bertanding kali ini kejuaraan jatuh kepada KELAB PERODUA VIVA (VIVAC) yang membawa pulang wang hadiah RM600. Tahniah pada mereka yang menang. Di harapkan mereka akan dapat mengekalkan kejuaraan pada tahun hadapan yang mana dijanjikan konsep Mobile FOX HUNT. Apa lagi...ayuh...siapkan senjata anda.

Sedikit sebanyak coretan dapat dirungkaikan supaya dapat mengekalkan momentum dalam hobi ini. Ini juga belum termasuk Asian Pacific Region JOTA yang mana banyak juga yang boleh dikongsikan bersama di sini akan tetapi saya akan kemaskini apabila masa mengizinkan.

Purpose for the Event
This event is organized by M.A.R.C (Melaka Amateur Radio Community). It shall be a day for eyeball and getting together of Hams and SWLs. All are welcome to participate in this fun of hunting “Foxes”. For out-station participants, you can enjoy getting to know Melaka famous historical sites.

Hunting Tool & Requirement
Fox Hunter are requested to have their own hunting equipments and there are no limitation to the type of equipment used. But do consider the weight & portability of your equpments. Home brew equipments are encouraged to show the true spirit of Radio Amateur.

Mode of Transmission : A2A

Hunting Location
The venue is located in the heart of the Melaka historical city & the starting point is the "Menara Taming Sari". The hunting area is about 3KM radius from the starting point.

Participant registration
Registration fee is RM30.00 for those who register before 19/09/2010. After which it will be RM40.00 ,likewise the walk-in registrations.
The money is to be Bank-in & email or fax prove of bank slip, registration form can be done online here.

Fox Hunt Prizes
First Prize : RM300.00 + Gold Trophy
Second Prize: RM200.00 + Silver Trophy
Third Prize : RM100.00 + Bronze Trophy

Fox Hunting Rules
1. Each individual or group participant are allowed to have ONE receiver and ONE set of antenna only.
2. No prompting among each group or individual is allowed because we want to have a fair competition for everyone to enjoy. Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified.
3. You will be given 3 hours for the hunt, so please observed the time limit. Latecomers will not be entertained.
4. Participants are supposed to find the “MARKER” and not the transmitters.
5. The MARKER consists of a flag sign and a small tag reader box.
6. The participants need to scan (Touch & Go) their ID Tag to the reader box, a BEEP sound indicate the hunter ID had been captured by the system and they may proceed to hunt the next available fox’s. If this is the final fox then your hunt had been completed and you must kept your ID Tag for prize declare verification. Please wait for the result announcement.

Accommodation & vehicle parking
Any outstation participant who require lodging service may try to contact below for arrangement. Please notice that we only provide reference for your convenient and we are not affiliate with any of them. You need to deal with them by your own. These hotel are located just a walking distance to the Fox Hunt starting point.

For those who driving here, shall need to pay for parking fees. The all zone whole day parking rate of RM5.00 per coupon can be bought from our registration counter for your own convenient.
